The editors of "Bulletin of the Institute of Oriental Studies" journal follow ethical principles and procedures recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)

The “Bulletin of the Institute of Oriental Studies” editorial board is committed to upholding the standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against any publication malpractices. Editors of the periodical have a full right to reject the work from publication in case of revealing any such malpractices.

 

Aims & Scope

The "Bulletin of the Institute of Oriental Studies" features studies on the ancient, medieval, modern, and contemporary history of Southwest Asian countries, as well as oriental source studies and philology. This journal may be of interest to orientalists, specialists in Armenology, and those interested in international relations.

The aim of this journal is to publish research on the ancient, medieval, modern, and contemporary history of the Near and Middle Eastern countries, and on issues related to source studies and philology. Additionally, proper formatting and citation guidelines must be followed. The journal places significant emphasis on covering political developments in the region, as well as international relations and other related issues. It is important to employ an objective evaluation in this academic writing and adhere to a clear and concise writing style with a logical progression of ideas.

The "Bulletin of the Institute of Oriental Studies"  is a peer-reviewed OPEN ACCESS periodical. Peer review is realized under the responsibility of the Editorial Board. The reviewing procedure is the following: after the initial screening of the manuscript and in case of approval the editor anonymously sends it to at least two scholars for reviewing. In some cases, the editorial team may request for a third review before making a final decision on publication. All articles published will be immediately and permanently free for everyone to read, download, copy, and distribute.

The authors that submit their articles to the periodical “Bulletin of the Institute of Oriental Studies” should guarantee that their articles and their essential substance have not previously been published and are not being considered for publication elsewhere. Authors that submit their works must confirm that they have disclosed any conflicts of interest regarding authorship and publication of the work and must identify the publisher against any breach of such warranty. When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author's obligation to promptly notify the “Bulletin of the Institute of Oriental Studies” editorial board to retract or correct the paper. Authors should present written permission to use any content that has not been created by them in their works if required. Editors will not submit for publication any article containing data that the author is not authorized to use. The required rights are as follows:

  • Non-exclusive rights to reproduce the material in the article.
  • Print and electronic rights
  • Unlimited use of materials (i.e. there should be no restrictions on the reuse of material)

The reuse of tables, figures, or paragraphs of another person’s work is permitted if the author gives a full attribution of sources and refers to the source in the reference list. If the other source undergoes any changes, it is incumbent on the author to cite the source.

Name of Journal

The official name of the periodical is Bulletin of the Institute of Oriental Studies. We thereby confirm that the name is unique. The ISSN is as follows: 2738-2702 (electronic) and 2738-2710 (print).
