Publication policy and general manuscript requirements
Authors of articles on results of researches have to submit the exact report on the performed work, and also provide objective discussion of its importance. Basic data have to be precisely presented in the document in accordance with archive, archeological or other sources. The description of references and methods of a research should allow to confirm the accuracy of presented conclusions and hypotheses. Roguish or obviously inexact statements represent unethical behavior and are unacceptable.
Articles of the review and the professional publication have to be exact and objective, and editorial works have to be accurately designated per se.
According to the Publication policy of the “Bulletin of the Institute of Oriental Studies” it is not allowed:
• Verbatim copyright of another person’s work without citing the author.
• Non accurate paraphrasing of another person’s work where more than one sentence within a paragraph or section of a text has been altered or sentences have been rearranged without an appropriate attribution. Non accurate paraphrasing is a verbatim copying.
• Reuse of elements of other person’s work (e.g. the use of a figure, table or paragraph without acknowledgment, references or the use of quotation marks) without citing the author.
• Self-plagiarism: If the elements of a work have been published before in other publication, (including “Bulletin of the Institute of Oriental Studies”) it is incumbent on the author to attribute to his earlier work and indicate how the subsequent work differs and builds upon with the results and conclusions contained in the earlier work. Verbatim copying of your own work and paraphrasing is unacceptable, they could become a basis for new conclusions.
• The materials that authors have prepared beforehand during the research related with the article, conference papers and presentations of seminars must be included in the reference list.
• Mentioning any papers of other authors should be provided with references to original sources. Citing of the previously published text should be presented as a DIRECT SPEECH (the text should be enclosed in quotes and written in cursive), with an obligatory reference to the original source. The inclusion of large portions of unoriginal text fragments is unacceptable.
“Bulletin of the Institute of Oriental Studies” (BIOS) is a peer reviewed open access periodical. Peer review is realized under the responsibility of the Editorial Board. The reviewing procedure is the following: after the initial screening of the manuscript and in case of approval the editor anonymously sends it to at least two scholars for reviewing. In some cases the editorial team may request for a third review before making a final decision on publication. All articles published will be immediately and permanently free for everyone to read, download, copy and distribute.
